White House aides under the authority of Karl Rove have acknowledged holding some 20 private briefings for President Bush's top diplomats to inform them about which Democratic House members may be vulnerable in 2008. One such meeting included six European ambassadors and the consul general to Bermuda, who, together, have contributed more than $1.6 million to Republicans since Bush's 2000 campaign, according to the Center For Responsive Politics research. Although the Hatch Act bars federal workers from participation in partisan politics, top officials have denied any wrongdoing.Read more about it here:
