In May 2007, Wal-Mart greeter Wendy Thomas, 33, “said she was quietly fired in May after she said a store manager told her Wal-Mart no longer wanted employees who could work only five hours daily”. Thomas had sustained brain damage from a car wreck years before her employment and claimed she was fired because she was disabled. In June, “she filed a complaint with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission”, saying Wal-Mart “violated her rights under the federal Americans with Disabilities Act”.
